SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES

WE STRONGLY BELIEVE IN FOLLOWING SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES FOR OUR FARMS IN COLOMBIA AND ECUADOR.

  • Our practices actively protect our worker’s health and minimize agrochemical use, to keep soil and waterways clean.
  • Our greenhouse design enables to harvest and utilize rainwater to irrigate our plants and treat our flowers.
  • Our drip irrigation systems have many benefits, such as being ecologically sound, promote a healthier flower and reduce pests, weeds and harmful fungal growth.
  • It is estimated that 80% of the water we use for our flowers comes from rainwater reservoirs, minimizing the need to use water from rivers or wells.

TAKING CARE OF OUR PEOPLE

WE VIEW OUR EMPLOYEES AS OUR MOST VALUABLE ASSET.

  • Rio employs over a thousand people on its farms.
  • Nurseries are provided to support our employees who are single mothers, accounting for 80% of our total workforce.
  • We provide special programs such as family planning, educational programs, drug abuse prevention, and chemical management.
