Alders Wholesale Florist, Inc.
The company origin dates to 1959, when Henry and Irmgard Alders began growing delphinium, gladiolus, and other seasonal flowers, peddling them out of their garage to New York City and local florists. Within a decade, the business outgrew that makeshift space, and a major transition had begun. The expansion led to the construction of a new building at their current location in Campbell Hall, NY.
The new facility allowed Alders to grow rapidly in the ’70s and ’80s with expanded refrigeration, additional employees, and delivery vehicles. Adding to the supply of locally-grown and California flowers, internationally-sourced flowers became part of the company’s regular offerings; this enabled Alders to offer many flowers on a year-round basis. At the same time, the hardgoods department broadened its offerings to include many craft items along with a dedicated Christmas department.
Additional construction in1987 and again in 1996 provided space for a new flower department with more coolers, office space, an inside loading bay, and a new greenhouse. These additions streamlined Alders’ order/delivery system, enabling the distribution of more fresh flowers, plants, and hardgoods; It also allowed them to have an optimal cold chain system. Today Alders has continued its expansion with flowers and hardgoods from all corners of the globe. Alders is passionate about always looking to provide customers with unique products of the highest quality.
Over the years, Henry and Irmgard have watched the business grow by their children Tom and Heidi and grandson Ryan. The company is also fortunate to have a highly dedicated staff committed to providing the best possible service to every customer.
