At the beginning of October, Rio Roses made waves at the Proflora flower show in Bogota, Colombia. The 14th edition of this three-day biannual show at the Corferias Convention Center, featured 328 exhibitors, with more than 400 varieties on display and 5,500 professional participants from all over the world.
Rio Roses took home the gold in the Outstanding Varieties Competition, winning first place in the spray rose category—the only category they competed in. National and international flower experts judged the contest evaluating the different varieties. The competition has two segments: flower quality for growers and flower quality for breeders.
This was Rio’s first time at the Proflora flower show, presenting the newest rose varieties grown in their Colombian and Ecuadorian farms. Other products on display included delphinium, ranunculus, carnations, and chrysanthemums. Also, the company offered tours of their farms in Colombia, giving many customers the chance to visit Equiflor farms and get a firsthand look at where the Rio varieties are planted and processed.
The event was an opportunity for Colombian flower growers and producers from other countries to mingle with suppliers and service companies related to the flower industry, developing relevant trade networks and strengthening business relationships all around.
