Dümmen Orange is proud to announce the introduction of a new rose variety called Sweet Mama.
NEW BREEDING TECHNOLOGY CENTER
Dümmen Orange is in the final stage of development of their state-of the-art Breeding Technology Center in the Netherlands. Here, they will centralize all research facilities (laboratories and offices) in the field of technology and traits. This will result in faster breeding and selection processes, enabling access to superior products for customers worldwide. The center will officially open in the second quarter of 2020.
The Breeding Technology Center will be one of the world’s largest laboratories for ornamental research. Consisting of three floors, with a total area of 4,000 square meters, the lab will facilitate research in the fields of phytopathology, genetics, genomics, tissue culture, cell biology, plant physiology, and diagnostics.
The research program focuses on traits that bring added value to the product chain, such as increased resistance, improved shelf-life, and improved yield. Researchers will work to increase breeding efficiency through molecular breeding, efficient trait evaluation, and genetic diversity analysis. They will also use technologies that bring plants to the market more rapidly, through optimal crossing and life cycle reduction.
We would like to hear your opinion on the selected variety provided by Dümmen Orange.
