Spring is here — and that means Easter’s on its way! That also means it’s time to prepare for your Easter floral sales to make the most out of the holiday. While vaccines are becoming more available and restrictions are loosening, families are still likely to celebrate Easter close to home this year. Make sure you’re a part of their celebrations with these simple strategies:
- Target Everyone
According to the NRF, 80% of American adults spend approximately $150 each on Easter, so make sure they spend some of it on flowers! When creating your email promotions and text messages, target them for all customers. However, while the promotions are general, you should definitely personalize them for each customer. And don’t forget an engaging Call to Action that links directly to your website.
- Plan Multiple Promotions
Some shoppers will want to plan ahead, and some will be last-minute, so plan to promote to all of them. Start with an “early bird” promotion one to two weeks before Easter, and use words like “exclusive” and “before everyone else” to advertise your Easter flower sales. Then run your standard promotions during Easter week and an additional advertisement a week or two after Easter. You’ll grab those customers who may have missed the Easter sales — and it’s a great way to get rid of any leftover stock.
- Create a Sense of Urgency
FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) is a real thing — and it’s quite useful when you’re sending out text promotions! Words like “Easter is Coming” or “Only 5 Days Until Easter” are great ways to create that sense of urgency. And make sure to add in things like “last chance” or “grab them before they’re gone” to give your sales a boost from last-minute shoppers.
- Choose the Right Discounts
Just as you offer different price tiers on arrangements, think about offering different types of discounts. Offer a dollar off discount for higher-priced items — $10 off $200 looks better to a customer than 5%, for example. But with lower priced items, it’s better to offer a percentage discount. No matter what discount you choose, make sure that you don’t overdo it: If you’ve already adjusted prices for your Easter sales, an additional discount may eat into your profits.
- Upsell and Cross-sell
Offer customers an add-on product with every arrangement, such as a stuffed bunny or a basket of chocolate eggs. You can either bundle them together as a package or add on the item after the customer has chosen the arrangement and placed it in the shopping cart. These make gift-giving convenient for customers while increasing your profits!
- Offer Free Delivery
Give yourself a competitive advantage by offering free delivery as part of your Easter sales. It’s not something you may be able to do year-round, but it will show your customers that you care — and increase your loyal customer base.
