Rio Star of Bethlehem

The Star of Bethlehem (Omithogalum umbellatum) is a perennial bulb with slender grass-like leaves. Each bloom produces 10 to 20 clusters of star-shaped white flowers on top of stems that reach up to one foot tall. These delicate flowers, measuring less than an Inch across, open in the late morning and close as the sun sets or In cloudy weather. The petals and sepals form an attractive, three-cornered star adorned with bright white hues on the upper surface and green lines on the underside. Rio Star of Bethlehem stands out as a cut flower, ensuring long-lasting floral arrangements that exude elegance.

Care and Handling

Cut each stem before placing in a vase of cool water. Remove foliage from below the waterline to prevent the water becoming contaminated with bacteria.

Ensure that water is changed every two days to lengthen vase life. Spraying the flowers with water will also enhance longevity. Display in a cool area away from direct sunlight.
