Every now and then, Royal Van Zanten’s breeders come across something special — a distinct feature, a glorious shade, a surprising petal drawing — In other words, something extraordinary. That’s what they have recently discovered with the beautiful new Sunny Lady™ Alstroemeria.
To find that one stunning new flower, you need the best breeding facilities. To that end, starting this year, Royal Van Zanten announced that one of their most important greenhouses would be located in Colibri, Colombia. The climate of Colombia is perfect for breeding and selecting new Alstroemeria varieties.
New varieties are tested thoroughly, in Colombia, Japan, Kenya and Europe, as the flowers need to prove themselves throughout the breeding process, making sure they are resilient and can tolerate varying temperatures. Being able to grow worldwide and year-round are key elements for a new variety to become a success.
The Sunny Lady™ Alstroemeria passed all their tests with flying colors. This is a stunning flower, with radiant yellow flower petals that stand out in a crowd. The drawing on the petals gives the flower that extra “va-va-voom”: This alstroemeria will naturally take center stage, shining like the sun.
The stunning appearance, however, isn’t the only selling point: The high bud count per stem and the long vase life will make this flower loved by florists and their customers. Moreover, this beautiful bloom will brighten up a room for up to three weeks.
Symbolizing long term friendship, the Sunny Lady™ Alstroemeria is the perfect flower for a bouquet or floral arrangement. Each of the six flower petals stands for a characteristic: understanding, humor, patience, empathy, commitment and respect.
To commemorate the introduction of this stunning new flower, renowned Dutch floral designer Pim van den Akker created a sweet design, connecting three stems of Sunny Lady™ Alstroemeria together with golden rope, turning it into an original bouquet.
