There’s no more fun holiday than St. Patrick’s Day: It’s a day for celebration, parties and lots of great times with friends and family. Why not tap into this and bring the St. Patrick’s Day fun to your floral business? Here are a few ideas to get you prepared for a potential pot of gold at the end of your St. Patrick’s Day rainbow.
Go Green—Literally
Stock up on anything and everything green—vases, ribbons, shamrocks—to add a special touch to your arrangements. Be sure to have plenty of pre-made arrangements for easy purchase, featuring green with accents of cream and white. Leprechauns and pots of gold are certainly St. Patrick’s Day symbols, so don’t hesitate to add a few to your shop windows!
Promote with Irish Flair
Use St. Patrick’s Day themes in your March promotions. Fill your windows and shop interior with four-leaf clovers that draw customers’ attention to special offers. Add a creative twist to your online promotions with words and phrases like “lucky”, “pot of gold”, “savings at the end of the rainbow” or similar.
Bring Your Customers to Ireland
In the weeks up to March 17th, take your customers on a trip to Ireland right in your store! You’ll already have the decorations well in hand, so add to the fun by playing Celtic music and offering unique treats like shamrock cookies to anyone who comes in. Use social media to invite customers to join you on your “Irish Adventure”.
Host a St. Paddy’s Happy Hour
St. Patrick’s Day is synonymous with a good party, so why not invite your customers to a St. Patrick’s Day Happy Hour? Offer a sampling of Irish food and drink, and give away a beautiful green floral arrangement as a door prize. It’s a great way to celebrate your best customers and connect with potential new ones. Of course, offer them special prices on St. Patrick’s Day arrangements while they’re in your shop!
Wear Green, Save Green
Use social media and e-mail marketing to let your customers know that if they come in wearing green for St. Patrick’s Day, they will receive a discount on their purchase. Make sure to take pictures of your customers in green, holding their St. Patrick’s Day arrangements, to share across social media.
Create a St. Patrick’s Day Contest on Social Media
Have your customers submit photos of their favorite “leprechauns” (kids or pets dressed up in their St. Patrick’s Day finest) on your Facebook or Instagram site. Offer a discount to anyone who submits a photo, and a St. Patrick’s Day arrangement for the photo that gets the most likes.
Show Your Own St. Patrick’s Day Spirit
Even if you’re not running a specific promotion that asks for photos, share your own. Have your staff wear green and take a photo of their St. Paddy’s Day spirit! You can even Photoshop some fun St. Patrick’s Day graphics into your shot before posting it online. Seeing the fun, personal side of your business will keep your customers loyal and interested.
Share Irish Knowledge
In the days leading up to St. Patrick’s Day, use social media to share Irish trivia, historical facts, recipes, pictures, or anything else that you think your followers would find interesting. This is a great way to engage them and raise awareness for your shop and its St. Patrick’s Day offerings.
Use these ideas, prepare for St. Patrick’s Day business and who knows? Maybe the Luck o’ the Irish will enter your flower shop this year!
