Star Platinum: A Shining Lavender Beauty

Plantec’s Star Platinum is a new variety, but it’s quickly become a favorite among premium lavender roses. The flowers are large and full, with a light scent and a long vase life. Their metallic lavender color has a luster that, in the right light, gives the illusion that they’re literally shining.

Breeding a “metallic” rose like the Star Platinum is one way that Plantec is working to innovate the industry with new colors, shapes, and textures.

Reinvigorating the Market with New Varieties

In today’s floral industry, many growers are offering similar varieties, and by extension, many flower shops, retailers, and event planners are offering those same varieties. While this can bring stability, it can also create lower margins, as these varieties become more like a commodity than something unique and special.
