With so many options for Valentine’s Day, how do you make sure customers choose your shop? Smart marketing, of course! Here are a few helpful tips so you can make the most of this Valentine’s Day:
- Think outside the box on floral arrangements
Try creating something new and different that will grab a customer’s attention. One unique and fun idea is to create a teddy bear with real roses. You can create them in multiple sizes and promote them on social media and your website; and why not hold a contest where the winner receives a rose teddy bear?
- Help shoppers find the perfect gift
According to a National Retail Federation (NRF) survey, 36.4% said they would be willing to spend a bit more if they found the perfect gift for someone. This is a great opportunity for you: Stock up on items you know your customers will love and promote them in your shop and online. We’ve already done some of the work for you: See page 12 for our Valentine’s Day gift guide—eight items that go perfectly with flowers for under $25 each!
- Come up with great promotion ideas
On the same NRF survey, 49% of consumers said they’d be willing to spend more if they found a really good sale or promotion. This is your opportunity to drive sales with a percentage or dollar amount off Valentine’s Day arrangements or bouquets. Make sure you run these promotions as limited time offers, to get customers to act now. Another idea would be to offer free shipping on every order over a specific dollar amount, say $100. Whatever promotions you choose, share them broadly across social media.
- Give some love to memorable customers
Customer service can be tough during a holiday, as all florists know. So this year, why not reward customers who treat your staff well? Have each member of your team nominate a memorable customer, and have them tell you why that customer was nominated. Then award each customer with a gift card to your store or a floral arrangement, letting them know why they were chosen.
- Evaluate your customer relationships
Speaking of customers, Valentine’s Day is great time to remind ourselves that we’re in a relationship with each customer. Take some time to evaluate each relationship on an individual basis; perhaps write a thank-you note to recognize your best customers, remembering why they are special to you as individuals. It’s a great way to spread more love on Valentine’s Day.
Use these tips to promote your business and have a prosperous Valentine’s Day!
